Fire prevention
The department inspects commercial premises annually and reviews plans for new construction. Home smoke alarm checks are free to Riverton residents.
Open burning
Open burning of landscape waste is permitted in Riverton only between 15 March and 15 May, and 15 September and 15 November, on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and sunset. Burning of refuse is prohibited year round.
